From Austin-Healey's through a VW Beetle and Wilys Jeep to a Ford Mustang, the Buckinghamshire Gentleman's Drive was a success. The rain (mostly) kept away and a spiffing lunch was had by many on their drive through the Chilterns.
Well done to all who organised and helped as well as those who took part in, what was for most, their first Tulip-style rally! The Hellfire Motor Vehicle Club were amazing as ever and thanks to Lady Dashwood for sending everyone off!
So the bad news is that I have car trouble-such that I won't be able to participate in the rally itself but I will be around to help and be a support vehicle! Cobra had been running a little roughly recently and today the dual-quad Holleys cried enough. The team has been great and is still going great guns with fundraising and the route, still secret, nonetheless sounds like a great one!
I remember participating in the very first "Movember", growing a fine moustache for the noble charity. Now that I have a full complement of facial wonderfulness, it behooved me to fine alternate funding activities and what better way than to drive out in some finery and get windwept, deaf, covered in fumes and quite possibly drenched? My initial funding target is just £500 and what a good charity the gentleman's drive is, supporting prostate cancer and men's mental health, something of a professional interest, to those who know me!
That must be sufficient for now, surely? Onwards, and Tally Ho!
