What is The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive?

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is a celebration of classic style. 2023 is the third year of the event, taking place on Sunday, September 24th. It is an on-road motoring event, uniting pre-1980 classic cars, designed to encourage enthusiasts and vintage car owners around the world to dress dapper and drive for men’s health. All funds raised by our Distinguished Gentlefolk support our charity partner, Movember. These funds are invested in vital research and programs for prostate cancer and men's mental health to support the wellbeing of men all around the world. The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive is a themed event, where drivers and their passengers dress dapper to complement the elegant design of their vehicles.

Is The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive opened to all genders?

Yes, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is open to all genders, cultures and sexes. The event raises money for men’s health, but we all have men in our lives that we care about and want them living longer, so The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive is a way for all genders to come together and show their support for the men in their lives.

Is this for Pre-1980 Cars only?

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is for pre-1980 designed vehicles. Its purpose is to connect classic motoring enthusiasts around the world with dapper charm to bring about an event that is both unique and spectacular. All vehicles in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive must be designed and initially manufactured before December 31st, 1979, with all but a few exceptions of replicas and these identical run-on models. This ensures that all vehicles participating in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive maintain the style of the event.

Do I have to dress up to attend the event?

The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive is a themed event, focusing on the classic style of both man and machine. Dress dapper and celebrate in style with your fellow gentlefolk!

Can I invite passengers to join me?

Absolutely, we welcome all passengers in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive. While it's not compulsory, you are able to invite them through your dashboard if they wish to join you digitally and raise funds for our cause areas.

What are replicas and run-on models?

Period-correct replicas are recreations that, externally, are visually correct with the original design, bodywork, and production of pre-1980 model vehicles.

A run-on model is a vehicle that was designed and initially manufactured before 1980. These run-on models are the exact same shape, bodywork, and chassis as the pre-1980 model, irrespective of build date.

These definitions are designed to maintain the style and theme of the event. If you feel your car is eligible to participate due to it being a replica or run-on model, please get in touch with us directly.

How do I find the details for the Drive in my city?

The full details of your drive will be made available after you register. These details need to be secure to ensure that only registered members have access to important drive information. If these details are shared publicly, it can put the event at risk of being shut down. We need all participants to be registered.

You can check out any updated drive details from within your Dashboard.

Do I have to raise money to take part?

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is a charitable event, and not doing your very best to raise funds is not particularly distinguished. Every little bit helps us achieve our shared goals with Movember - for men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Through research and support programs, Movember is changing the lives of men.

While fundraising is a key part of The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive, we know that folks around the world have suffered greatly over the past year and a half, so donating is not compulsory. The most important thing we can do right now is check in with our loved ones, and remind people that cancer doesn't stop, so keeping on top of your health is crucial.

Do I need to drive my car to and during the event?

The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive is not your average car event. While there may be some of your city's most elegant cars in attendance, it is far from a show and shine. Simply put, this event is for drivers, and we encourage all enthusiasts to get behind the wheel of their cars and join in the event.

I want to host a Drive, what do I do?

All you need to do is fill out the form here and we'll get started! Whether you want to host a public event, or something for your club, get in touch and we can work with you to bring DGD to your city!

Where does my fundraising go?

Movember invests funds raised by the gentlefolk of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive into approved programs in line with the founding principles of both parties.

100% of funds raised go directly to Movember. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive has then reimbursed costs relating to the delivery and running of the actual event. The costs involved ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants as well as the best possible management of a global event. These costs relate to a 20% cost to fundraising ratio. Our priority will always be to protect the event and ensure its safe delivery on a global level for all those involved.

Funds raised will be invested in prostate cancer clinical research, prostate cancer health services, and men’s mental health and suicide prevention projects.

I've invited a passenger, do they need to raise funds?

If you've invited a passenger through your dashboard and they've created a profile, they will be able to share that profile and raise funds and awareness for our cause areas. While this isn't compulsory, it would add to the camaraderie of participating in this dapper event.
