We will depart from Victoria Park and wind our way north of the Western Hwy to Ararat. We will park at the town hall where there is a cafe and toilet facilities. After approx 30 mins we will return to Ballarat via a route winding through country south of the Western Hwy, eventually arriving at the Ballarat Golf Club.
It would be great if you could join us for lunch afterwards at Ballarat Golf Club.
I have placed a number of documents to assist you on the day in the shared folder below
1. DGD 2024.kmz : the entire route created in Google maps
2. DGD 2024 Turn by Turn.pdf: the turn by turn instructions created by Google Maps in a PDF document
3. Using OSM App for the DGD.pdf : OSM App is the Open Street Map version of the Open Source Open Street Maps and you can load the kmz file into it to create a navigation route via GPS. This is something Google Maps doesn't support. I've included in the document how to install it and load the route.
4. DGD 2024 Ballarat Lunch: please register your interest here for lunch
For the day itself:
1. There are petrol stations on the corner of Pleasant St and Sturt St (Shell) and Gillies St and Sturt St (7-Eleven). Drivers should take care of any re-fuelling before arriving.
2. The roads are all in good condition.
3. At the stop in Ararat there are toilets and a cafe for coffee.
4. There are an AMPOL and Shell stations close to the Ararat Town Hall Stop for any re-fuelling.
5. If enough people are interested we can book a table at the end point - Ballarat Golf Club for a late lunch (commencing 1300-1330)
