On the Road with “The Root Beer Float” for Men’s Health

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, I’ll be taking my 1958 Ford F-100, affectionately known as “The Root Beer Float,” out for The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive. The Root Beer Float is not just an old truck with a great name and plenty of personality. It is a 68-year-old rolling reminder that, with regular attention, proper maintenance, and the occasional stubborn refusal to quit, things can keep going strong for a long time. That is exactly the kind of message this drive is about, although thankfully men’s health does not usually require chasing down a mystery electrical issue or explaining to your wife why another part had to be ordered. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive brings together classic-car owners and enthusiasts around the world to dress dapper, drive cars built 40 years ago or more, and raise funds and awareness for men’s health in support of Movember. The funds raised help support prostate-cancer research and programs for men’s mental health. Men die, on average, six years earlier than women, often from health problems that can be prevented or addressed sooner with better awareness, regular checkups, and honest conversations. Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, while too many men still deal with mental-health struggles alone instead of reaching out for help. So before I press the tweed, polish the shoes, and make sure The Root Beer Float is willing to cooperate with the concept of leaving the driveway, I am asking for your support. Please consider donating whatever you can. Your contribution helps Movember fund vital prostate-cancer research and men’s mental-health programs, encouraging men to take care of themselves with the same dedication they give their cars, trucks, tools, projects, and everything else they swear is “almost finished.” Help me put The Root Beer Float to work for something bigger than a Sunday cruise. I'm Driving for Men's Health in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive

On Sunday the 27th of September 2026, I'm driving in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive with fellow men and women across the globe to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health on behalf of Movember. Men die on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. The number of men that are suffering is growing, and we need to do something about that. So, before I press my tweed and polish my shoes, I'm asking you to join me in raising funds and awareness for these causes by donating what you can for this meaningful cause and to help the men we love, live happier and healthier lives.
